The Saint Odulfus Church in Borgloon is a cross basilica with five aisles, dedicated to Saint Odulfus. It is located in the center of Borgloon city (Speelhof, also called Vrijthof), close to the place where the castle of Loon used to be. This cruciform church was built in the Romanesque style in the 12th century.

After a long and radical interior restoration, the works of the Sint-Odulphuskerk Church on the Speelhof in Borgloon was finally completed. The works include the corridor, the sacristy, the chapter house, and the crypt.

Painting with Light was elaborately briefed by the church committee about the historic values and the key architectural elements of the ancient church. We worked in coordination with the church committee to highlight and enhance the important ancient artifacts and statues. The overall ambient lighting church was developed and achieved with minimalistic intervention on the heritage structure and walls. The lighting products are selected and located at key hidden spots in the overall church to keep the lighting atmosphere subtle and holistic. The project was executed by Renotec.

The architect duo Gijs Van Vaerenbergh, known for the see-through church, also designed a beautiful work of art for the Sint-Odulphuskerk, a HALO.
